Advanced Wilderness Encounters

Adjustable mob NPC encounters in the wilderness; distance from player, number of spawns and distance/interval between spawns are all adjustable in the settings. DEX compatible.

Mostly based on the old Wilderness NPCs mod (with thanks to Xorberax for their work on that mod), but with various errors fixed, excesses toned down, and the range of encounter types massively increased. Also added variation between night and day encounters as well as varying some encounters according to climate base of the wilds you're in, i.e. whether you're in a desert, mountain, swamp or temperate location (with thanks to Hazelnut, Kab the Cowbird and Carademono on Discord for help with some of the coding).

Every journey in the wilds, now becomes an adventure in and of itself. Bards, Knights, Healers, Monks and Rangers are all friendly and will fight in your defense. Everything else is most definitely not friendly and will try to kill you. You must have Infighting switched on for this mod to work properly... and to make your life much easier, so the various enemy groups that spawn will fight each other as well as you and your allies.

There is no level scaling going on with this mod, but the higher level mobs have been missed out of the list of mobile types to spawn. They spawn at a distance (exactly how far depends on the settings you use), so you should be able to sneak past or run/ride away from anything you can't handle. As well as the default settings, this mod comes with four Presets of varying impact, from low to very high they are; Tame, Natural, Wild and Savage. So you can decide what kind of wilderness you want to travel through. The default settings fall in the middle of the presets with regards impact/difficulty.

TIPS:

The encounters will only happen beyond a certain distance from the last encounter (the distance depends on what settings you use), so if you rest on the spot or near it after each encounter, that rest shouldn't be interrupted by another encounter from this mod till after you have moved on.

If you are using accelerated travel with the Travel Options mod and are finding the encounters happen too often, start with the Default settings or one of the Low/Moderate impact Presets, then increase the "Spawn Check Distance" and "Update Interval" settings as appropriate.

If you're using other encounter mods with this one, start with the Default settings or one of the low impact Presets, then adjust the various settings up or down as it suits. The Default settings and the Low/Moderate impact Presets work very well with my Basic Wilderness Encounters mod without adjustment, and should work with SIGIL and Warm Ashes Wilderness just fine, though you may be overwhelmed with the number of encounters, but the level at which this happens is probably a matter of taste, so pick the most appropriate preset for you and then mess with the settings.

DEX COMPATIBILITY:

Can be used with or without the Daggerfall Enemy Expansion mod (DEX). So, if you use DEX, many of the new enemies from that mod will automatically appear in the already expanded mix of encounters.

DOWNLOAD, INSTALLATION AND UNINSTALLATION:

Download from NEXUS (https://www.nexusmods.com/daggerfallunity/mods/671), click FILES and get the latest version.

Install by unzipping or pasting the contents of the download directly into your StreamingAssets folder, overwrite as requested. If you use it, VORTEX will do this automatically. Make sure the mod is enabled.

If updating an older version, go to Settings and press Reset for the new default settings, or select your prefered Preset again to get the new settings for that Preset.

Uninstall by removing the dfmod from your StreamingAssets/Mods folder, or just disable it.

VERSIONS:

Version 1.3: tweaked the Presets somewhat, especially the Natural Preset which didn't seem to work ... it does now.

Version 1.2: fixed some of the climate/biome types not spawning encounters.

Version 1.1: refined the default/presets Min and Max spawn distance settings (so encounters spawn enemies somewhat closer together), and added compatibility with the Daggerfall Enemy Expansion mod.

Version 1.0: initial release for play-testing.

PROBLEMS AND CONFLICTS:

Please report any problems, bugs and suggestions in the appropriate comments/bugs sections on NEXUS or on this mods post at the DFWorkshop forums.
